About me
I am Hans Rijs, 55 years old from Voorburg in the Netherlands. I am clerk for the council of Bodegraven-Reeuwijk (25 councilors), the city that stores the largest amount of cheese in the world.
I’d like to be the next vice-president for IIMC, the 1st from Europe and the 1st whose first language is not English.
I have been a clerk for more than 22 years and a board member for the Dutch clerks organization VvG for almost 8 years. For the last 4 years I have been director for region XI. I am also a member of ADSO and SLCC in the UK, my second home since my wife is from Leeds.
International working and sharing are my drive. I organized numerous of exchanges between the Netherlands and the UK, including training and internships. Thanks to IIMC my council did 3 international exchanges. I contributed a lot to the study abroad in 2024, including a visit to my hometown.
As your VP I’d like to broaden international exchanges, open up educational programs worldwide to all IIMC members and expand IIMC in Europe. To learn more about who I am, what I have done in the past and what I want to achieve, please check out the different pages on this website. If you want to have a personal chat, please feel free to reach out to me and drop me an e-mail so I can get in touch.
Hans
